About us

Centre for Rare Diseases and Disabilities (Danish abbreviation: CSH) is a self-governing body under the Danish Ministry of Interior and Social Affairs, and is associated with the National Board of Social Services.

CSH provides impartial information and counselling on rare diseases and disabilities. The most important target groups are people with rare diseases, their families, and professionals.

Definition

In Denmark a disease or disability is considered rare when there are less than 1.000 people affected nationwide i.e. one per 5.000 inhabitants. According to the statutes of the Centre, our field of responsibility is all forms of rare diseases and disabilities, i.e. rare chronic diseases and disabilities that entail substantially impaired physical or mental function, and which are usually congenital and genetically conditioned.
